There’s no doubt that bringing a newborn baby into your family is one of the most special times of your life. We all choose how we do this, there is no manual and every baby (and family) is different. I’m not going to comment on your choices. It is up to you whether you breast or bottle feed, whether you use disposable or washable nappies etc etc. There are huge numbers of people offering advice and comment on all these things. Here at OHC HQ we think that this time is difficult enough without us weighing into these thorny debates as well. However, if you choose organic (and I sincerely hope that you do), then I do have a few thoughts. There are some amazing UK producers out there looking to provide the best for you and your new addition.
I believe that organic cotton on a baby’s skin helps prevent irritation, is softer than chemically treated fabric and more long lasting. In particular I love Little Green Radicals, a UK based company, using organic Fairtrade certified cotton. They have a fantastic range, including their quirky environmental slogan babygrows which we stock. You can choose from ‘Rare Breed’ and ‘Dolphin Friendly’ slogans at the moment and they make a unique gift.
One of my favourite roles her at OHC HQ is trying all the new products. It was no hardship to try out the newest addition to our shelves – the Organic Surge Tropical Orange and Bergamot Body Lotion. The gentle lotion soothes and moisturises whilst you enjoy the fabulously uplifting fragrance. It’s perfect to enjoy during a few moments to yourself (if and when you get them!).
In thinking about clothing and skincare for both mum and baby we have expanded our collection to cater for all eventualities. Our New Baby Gift Bag combines Sensitive Baby Wipes, Baby wash, Nappy Balm and a Babygrow whilst the Mum and New Baby Bag includes some hand cream for the lady who will always be washing her hands as well as a soothing body lotion by Organic Surge. The Everything You Need Baby Hamper speaks for itself.
So, that’s mum and baby sorted – now all you need to do is get some sleep. Good luck on your new journey.x
